Kodanadu Viewpoint

Kodanadu View Point

The road leading to the View Point is quite picturesque with some of the oldest tea estates in the region as well as lush sholas (forests).

About 18 km from Kotagiri, Kodanad View Point offers a view that is breathtaking on a clear day. You can see for miles around into the distance including the Moyar river valley down below. There’s a sheer drop from the view point itself and you can see the majestic rise of Rangasamy Pillar, the gleaming river, waterfalls across the valley, the fertile paddy fields of Thengumarada and a hazy view of the Mysore Plateau in the distance. All in all, the panoramic view is an eye-full.

To be fair, what you get to see depends on the fickle hill weather. On a cloudy day, you will see nothing much, unfortunately.

Getting there

Kodanadu Viewpoint is about 24 km from Triptych in Cliffy Village. You drive 12 km to Kaikatty and take a turn away from proceeding to Kotagiri town. This easy and excellent road is pretty scenic all the way and dead-ends at the Viewpoint. Going in the rainy months of October-December will almost ensure disappointment! But when the weather is good, the views are spectacular.
