Experience the warmth and comfort of an all-wooden house in the Nilgiri mountains.
Away from touristy Ooty is the hidden, little gem of the Nilgiris: Kotagiri. Move further along and you get to the small hamlet of Kilipi. Quiet and isolation. It may or may not be everyone’s idea of a holiday. But if you want a tranquil place away from the bustle, welcome to Triptych. A 3-tiered, all-wooden house overlooking a lush valley. And nestling in possibly the coolest environs in the region. With excellent home cuisine.
There’s a curator round the clock. You get all square meals of the day including an evening snack. Fresh breeze, descending clouds and bird songs are thrown in for free.
A cool, well designed home high up in the Nilgiris is a great place to survey the valley and muse on life in general.
Cool air and quiet. Take a morning walk, eat well, go for an evening stroll, turn in. What else is there? S-l-o-w down.
Chat with family. Take up trivia with a friend. Put your feet up. Make a plan to go somewhere. Cancel it. Chill.
No malls. No traffic signals. No crowds. Go trekking or a long walk. Visit the Theppakadu Elephant Camp near Mudumalai to see the ‘Elephant Whisperers.’ Or stay put in Triptych and enjoy the absence of a timetable.
For a leisurely nature walk, we have a naturalist you can hire for a session. Birding season is between November and February.
There are forest trails in every direction. We can get you a good guide if you want to explore the area. Come back hungry after a couple of hours.
Coonoor and Ooty with their shops, tribal villages, waterfalls, viewpoints, local handicrafts, tea, herbs and cheese all within an hour’s reach.
Stretch your limbs, play carrom or cards, renew your bonds, catch up on family time. Sip ginger tea. Enjoy home-cooked meals.

We have a full time cook on the premises who makes you delicious veg and non-veg food. Breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Food is charged extra. At ₹1,500 per person per day. If you plan to go out for the day and have food elsewhere, just inform him. No self-cooking is allowed on the premises.
There is an optic fiber cable from BSNL capable of smooth video calls.
No. That defeats the purpose of running away to the hills. If there is something you absolutely, positively must watch, please use your phone or tablet or laptop.
Most people treat our house like their own and take decent care of it during their stay. We love them for their courtesy and thoughtfulness. Unfortunately, about 10% of the guests feel it's their right to let their pet's mud-soaked paws all over the house, including the linen. They also pull off the sheets and pillows and drag them into the living room and leave them there in a crumpled mess. Please don't be that guy. Moving furniture and bedclothes outside of rooms is not permitted.
You're most welcome to bring your pets. We request you use only our special vessels meant for pets. Or bring your pet's own feeding bowl. Do NOT use the regular utensils in the house for your pet.
There are the famous hill stations of Ooty and Coonoor, each over an hour away from Triptych. There are many places worth visiting in the Nilgiris. See our blog section for ideas.
Triptych is 2 and a half hours from Coimbatore airport. We can arrange a cab for you to Triptych.
Mettupalayam is nearest, 1 and a half hours away. We can arrange for a cab to pick you up on.
If you driving in from the South (Coimbatore, Chennai, etc.), drive past Mettupalayam and take the right towards Kotagiri instead of going straight to Coonoor and Ooty.
If driving in from North (Mysore, Bangalore, etc.), take the Mysore-Bandipur road and go past Bandipur and Mudumalai reserves. Turn left towards Masinagudi and take the picturesque 36-hairpin bend climb to Ooty and catch the road to Kotagiri.
If you’d like to venture out, there are places to visit from tribal villages to scenic viewpoints. You can also shop for local handicrafts like clothes, eucalyptus oil, soaps, cheese, tea and more. Check out our blog for information.
